5+ Businesses for Swimwear Materials

Hey everyone!

It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to sit down and put together another listicle of my favorite shops but I figured, with summer here on full blast, that it’d be the perfect time to share some of my favorite shops and locations when it comes to gathering materials to make your own swimsuits! This blog post is only going to focus on where to find the perfect materials (like fabric, elastic, etc.) but next time I’ll be sure to post some of my favorite swimsuit patterns for you to take a look at! Now, let’s get to it!

1. Tailor Made Shop

Ying is by far probably my favorite shop when it comes to lingerie materials period. The fact that we also get some absolutely stunning swim fabrics and a wide assortment of swim-friendly elastics? Absolute icing on the cake!!

2. Melanated Fabrics

I was soooo excited to head down to Atlanta at the beginning of the month and had so much fun with everyone I spent time with. However, one of my favorite highlights was definitely my trip to Melanated with Brittani! I knew the second I stepped foot in there that I wanted to pick up one of the swim fabrics I saw and was actually between the two above! I went with the right image just because it’s going to be so different from the other fabrics in my rotation! Definitely check out their selection of colorful and bold swim fabrics before they’re gone!

3. Blackbird Fabrics

Blackbird had a number of shop-exclusive swim prints to drop this year! It’s always so fun seeing when a shop is able to carry exclusive prints these fun styles definitely don’t disappoint! If these prints aren’t your style, though, Blackbird also carries a wide range of solids and linings as well!

4. Mood Fabrics

Mood is definitely going to have a larger selection, and has some of the most unique options as well! I’m absolutely loving this fun rainbow prism fabric that also has UV protection built into the fabric! This fun rainbow marbled tricot is another fun statement to add to your rotation!

5. Etsy

I’m not going to lie. I hate* saying “I found it on Etsy,” because, let’s be real, we bought it from a company who was selling on Etsy. However, I’ve found a number of great swimwear fabrics from smaller companies (sadly who have closed as of now) but I definitely recommend taking a look at some of the many, many options there!

6. Surge Fabric Shop

Surge has another great assortment of swim fabric including bundled options so you can have some fun printed (and solid) pairings for your suits! Definitely make sure you snag them while you can before they disappear for the season!

7. Style Maker Fabrics

I’m LOVING the fun prints Style Maker has been showing up with this summer! I’ve been seeing variations of this neon sign fabric everywhere and if I actually had the ability to be swimming all the time and showing off my cute me-made suits, this would probably be at the top of my list this year (behind the fabric I got from Melanated of course)!

8. Spoonflower

This one should be a no-brainer! We use it all year round for our everyday fabrics but definitely don’t sleep on Spoonflower when it comes to swimwear! With thousands of designers and prints to choose from, choose your favorite print(s) and make sure you choose the Sport Lycra fabric option for your favorite swimsuit this summer! Who are your favorite print designers?

Where else do you head for your swimwear fabrics?
