Minerva Make: Lou Box Top

This year I was SO honored to have been asked to become a Minerva Maker. After years of sewing and just under a year of keeping my own blog, I’m so excited to have another platform to share my makes, education, and experiences.

This post marks the first of (hopefully) many guest posts for Minerva.

Once I saw this gold holly fabric (let’s be real - anyone who knows me knows I loooooove anything gold!), I knew I wanted to make something for Christmas. My original plan for the fabric, sadly, was scrapped because of a lack of time and resources but my backup clearly worked out just as well!

While I was working on the garment, I came across a piece that, once I included, made this one piece oh-so-special to me.

Naturally, I had to drag my sister with me to Crocker Park to take my photos since I just love the area when it’s all decorated for Christmas! The giant tree in the center of the shopping center, ornaments along the center strip, even the smaller trees, shaped “hedges”, and presents scattered around (that we didn’t include in the photos for rain-log reasons) were such a perfect backdrop.

I’m just so grateful to have been given this opportunity and I hope to share some more fun makes with you guys from their amazing fabrics soon! If you have any ideas for garments, pattern hacks, or even other fun, craftier projects that you would like for me to make (obviously based on which fabrics I see and like), leave a comment below and I’ll make sure to look for the perfect fabric to go with it! Who knows? I may just use your suggestion and shout you out in the post!

Like I said earlier, this post already meant a lot to me as my first guest blog but using that one extra piece made it mean even more. Make sure you head to the link here  to check out the post and see what I used!

In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek of what I made…:
