10 Small Businesses for Sewing Labels

Ever since I decided to start my own label business, I’ve been obsessed with looking for other small businesses offering labels as a means to add a bit more variety into the styles I sew into my makes. Today’s blog post is a list of the different small label businesses I’ve come across and plan on updating with more if and when I find more that I love!

The List

1. Blackbird Fabrics Exclusive labels are a newer product for Team Blackbird! Having released earlier in 2022, these have become an instant hit with the online sewing community! While they also carry some options from classics like Kylie and the Machine and Sarah Hearts, the fun Blackbird exclusives aren’t to sleep on! These “Peachy” labels are definitely a favorite of mine! What about yours?

2. Fattity by johassler Jenny started her label line a little while ago but for those of you who follow her on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen her custom stamped patches (see above) that she’s been showcasing in her makes lately as labels but she also sells some some more “traditional” labels further back in the shop as well!

3. Intensely Distracted Simone’s shop is easily one of my favorites! I’m weak when it comes to Star Wars-inspired anything so just about the entire collection of Star Wars labels that she’s created has made its way into my stash. She always delivers such fun and high quality labels (well products now with the additions of her stickers and candles!) that I’m always looking forward to seeing what she’s up to next!

4. Kylie and the Machine As one of the Originals (well, THE Original), Kylie and her small but mighty team has released a number of groundbreaking products and designs from their iconic Sewing Label Advent Calendar that dropped in 2021 to countless labels and other sewing notions and products that keep us all wanting more!

5. The Lemon Patch UK-based designer, Ema also started The Lemon Patch in 2022 (but in the beginning). Her labels are so cut, vibrant, and fun and are sure to be the perfect addition to your makes!

6. Little Rosy Cheeks Little Rosy Cheeks was started by Victoria mid-Pandemic as she took to repeating some of her favorite affirmations to herself and her kids and wanted labels for her garments to reflect those and add a little reminder in each of her makes. Victoria carries a number a bright and colorful sewing labels as well as these classic leather labels, perfect for your favorite denim makes!

7. Mollymolly Fabric Shelley, the owner of Mollymolly fabric added labels to her small quantity fabric shop and is just another way she’s able to showcase her positive attitude and bright, fun prints!

8. Sarah Hearts Sarah is another powerhouse in the Sewing Label Game with her bright, bold, fun, and classic labels. Perfect for anyone from those making for kiddos or other recipients to quilters, even for your average everyday sewist, Sarah’s been killing the label game since 2020!

9. Sew Anonymous Another great UK brand, Sew Anonymous has quickly become one of those shops I always find myself stalking their Instagram. As I write this, they’re the only label designer I know who carries and sells “silhouette” labels that act as a fun additional illustrated shape to add another extra special touch to your makes.

10. #taggedbySteph Hey, that’s me! Having launched in September/October of 2022, I’m just getting started! I started #taggedbySteph to let some more creativity loose and design labels that I felt our area was lacking. I have plenty of plans ahead for labels I’d like to launch in 2023 but make sure you get these designs while you can as I’ll be looking to retire a good amount of this launch set once stock runs out!
